Luckenbooth Thistle Dinner Plate

The beautiful Scottish Thistle pattern of handpainted lavender flowers on white bone china reflects the history and heritage of Scotland. Viking invasions of Scotland were carried out for almost 500 years. After many unsuccessful daylight attacks the invaders planned a surprise attack in the darkness. They crept, barefoot, before dawn towards the Scottish defenders. Fortunately for the Scots, one Viking stood on a Thistle and his agonized cry of pain roused the defenders who set upon the foe and the few survivors fled to their longships. From that day forward, the Thistle became the national emblem of Scotland.

Handmade in Scotland. Dinner plate measures 11" in diameter. Dinner plates are special order and may take 3-4 weeks to come from Scotland. Not suitable for dishwasher or microwave.
