Inspired by the national emblem of Scotland, the thistle has been the protector of Scotland since the days of the Viking invaders, when their cries of pain from stepping on the native thistle with bare feet alerted the Scots to their presence. The national motto: “nemo me impune lacessit”—no one infuriates me unscathed, is believed to be inspired by the thistle. Those who carry a thistle or its symbol are said to be protected from harm. Sheilaf Fleet, Orkney designer, presents this brooch in the shape of the kilt pins seen in Scotland. The brooch measures 2" long and 1/2" wide at widest point and is available in Sterling Silver or 9ct. Yellow Gold (not pictured). Gift boxed. Made in Scotland. Delivery may take 2-3 weeks if not in stock.9ct.gold is specal order only. 50% deposit charged at time of order.]
