Solvar 14ct Gold Brigit's Cross Pendant (Small)

Saint Brigit, once the Celtic goddess Brigantia, held sway over all creative activity. Her Feast Day of February 1st, one of the four traditional celtic holy days, marks the "beginning of spring," a time in which Brigit's serpent would emerge from the mound in which it hibernated through the dark half of the year. It's behavior was thought to determine the remaining length of winter -- a tradition later transformed in the United States into Groundhog Day. Originally, "Brigit's crosses" were talismans of rushes which celtic peoples crafted to ward off unseen threats to hearth and home. These contemporary renditions offer a more personal and less cumbersome alternative. The double sided cross measures 1/2" square with an 18" chain included. Gift boxed. Made in Ireland. Delivery may take 2-3 weeks if not in stock.
