The Runic Iris design was inspired by the stone age tomb, Maeshowe, built around 3,000 BC. In the 17^th century Vikings broke into the tomb and carved runes on the chamber walls. The brooch from the dot on the outer edge clockwise reads “Reflecting Times Past and Present”. Designed by Sheila Fleet. Available in Sterling Silver with Skaill blue enamel, Sterling with oxidized background,  or 9ct. yellow gold. Brooch measures approximately 1 1/4" in diameter.
