From Sheila Fleet, Orkney Scotland jewelry designer, the St. Magnus Cathedral pendant is based on sandstone symbol designs found on the east wall of the St Magnus Cathedral in the Orkney Islands. Founded in 1137 by The Earl Rognvald Kolsson the cathedral is built of yellow and red sandstone, the red from the Head of Holland on Orkney Mainland, the yellow from the outer island of Eday, the Cathedral took 300 years to complete and the east wall dates from the late 13th century. These carvings may be associated with 3 alters dedicated to St Margaret, St Catherine and St Barbara which stood beneath them. The Sterling silver pendant measures 7/8" diameter, on a 17" chain (included and adjustable to 16", 15"). Gift boxed.

Sheila’s
inspiration comes from the history and natural beauty of the Orkney Islands.
Her jewelry is produced in a small workshop in Tankerness.
Each design carries Sheila’s origination makers punch mark, SD (Sheila Dearness being her maiden name). All pieces of jewelry that are required to have a hallmark are independently marked for fineness and are assayed at Edinburgh Assay Office.
We
